Revisiting My NBA Finals DFS Roster One More Time
After watching Tyrese Haliburton not make a single shot in Game 5, one thing became abundantly clear: drafting him as the MVP of my FanDuel DFS roster was a huge mistake. But with at least one more game (hopefully two), there is still time to revise my roster.
One thing is certain—I’m leaving Haliburton off. Yes, I know he could come out in Game 6 in Indianapolis looking for redemption and lead the Pacers to a big win, and he might. But I think there are more reliable options to draft.
My NBA Finals DFS Roster: Game 4 + 5 Results
I had high hopes for Haliburton as the MVP of my roster after he played well in the first three games. When he tallied 31.9 points in Game 4, I was bummed. But when he returned and got 18.4 in Game 5, I was kicking myself for not making a change after four.
Now, the production that Jaylen Williams had was what I was hoping for out of Haliburton. I was pleased because he had a reliable 35.9 points in Game 4. Then he followed up with 55.2 points in Game 5, and all I could think was how it wasn’t good enough to cover for having Haliburton as my MVP.
As for the rest, when you go with a T.J. McConnell, you can’t be shocked when he just gets you 11.2 points like he did in Game 4. But then he turned around and scored more than Haliburton in Game 5, 31.8 points. Isaiah Hartenstein was a disappointment (12.7 and 24.6 points), as was Bennedict Mathurin (9.4 and 23.1).
My Game Six and Seven NBA DFS Lineup
For MVP, I’m still thinking SGA is a little expensive and would restrict what I can do with the rest of the roster. I’m not wasting time on Haliburton again, which leaves Jalen Williams and Pascal Siakam ($17700).
After watching Game 5, I thought for sure Williams would be my guy. But then I clicked on Siakam’s FanDuel profile and saw he had 50+ point nights in three of his last six games.
While SGA ($17,400) would make for an expensive MVP, the man has scored 60+ fantasy points twice and never lower than 42. I think I’ve got to roll with the league MVP and see if I can make it work.
After a careful study of the options, I think I will go top-heavy with this lineup and draft Jaylen Williams ($12,400) as well. To fill out the roster, I’ll go with TJ McConnell ($3800), Myles Turner ($5600), and Luguentz Dort ($2800).
McConnell has accounted for 29+ points in three of his last four games. Hopefully, He’ll make it four of five in Game 6. Myles Turner had better nights during the earlier rounds, but if my top three perform, I’ll be fine if he has another 20+ point night (I think).
As for Dort, he appears to be the best option with the limited resources I have at this point.
