I dare you to picture Will Ferrell stumbling up to the party in the movie Old School and muttering, “We’re going streaking!” and not laugh. If you don’t know what I’m talking about, find a friend with a Paramount+ subscription and watch it now.

Go ahead. The rest of us will wait.

Now, I’m not advocating getting naked and running anywhere, let alone the ‘quad.’ No, I’m talking about playing a daily fantasy sports game on Underdog, Streaks. After playing Ladders last week, I was inspired to find something new (to me) once again.

Hence-- We’re Going Streaking

I’ll admit. I was a little confused about how this game works at first.  But my desire to do anything other than make NBA DFS picks like everyone else online won out. So, I did some reading, watched some videos, and figured it out.

The idea is what the name implies—you want to make multiple correct picks in a row, starting with two. If you get those two right and proceed to get the next nine correct, you’ll win 1000x your entry fee.

At first, I couldn’t tell when you had to make your 11 picks. Did you do it all at once? Did they need to come from the same game or games on the same day…or sport? The answer to all of that is no.

You start with making two picks, and that’s it. If you get those two right, you move to your third pick and fourth pick and…you get it. As you continue to make correct picks, the multiplier rises. If you lose your nerve, you can cash out at any time.

Let’s Build An Entry

So, what’s the catch? What makes this game unique? To answer those questions, let’s come up with our first two picks. Since I’m typing this Saturday morning, I’ll use Sunday’s Denver Nuggets vs. Oklahoma City Thunder game to make those two picks.

The easy thing to do would be to go with the superstars:

  • Nikola Jokic—higher or lower than 29.5 points
  • Shai Gilgeous-Alexander—higher or lower than 31.5 points

Now, it is vital to your ‘streak’ that you get these two right; otherwise, you lose your entry fee, and you have to try again. So, we don’t need to go with the top dogs; we just need to get two picks right. As the superstars playing in Game 7 and for the right to move on to the Western Conference Finals, you’d expect the superstars to show out.

However, as awesome as Jokic is, he’s scored over 29.5 points just twice in this series. But you know that is something he is always capable of doing. Eh…sounds like an unreliable choice either way.

Now, he has not had more than eight assists in a game in this series. But if the superstar in him Hulk's out, let’s move on.

As for SGA, he’s gone for over 31.5 points in three of six games in this series. But two came at home (Games 1 and 2). With the Conference Finals on the line, I think we’ll see an incredible game from him. Let’s lock in ‘higher’ on his point total for our first pick.

Your second pick does have to be on a different team, so let’s find a Denver player. I never thought I’d say this about Russell Westbrook, but the man just isn’t getting it done on the scoreboard, scoring 8, 4, 6, and 8 points in the last four games.

His point total is set at 10.5 points. I feel pretty good about taking ‘lower.’

Here’s where this game gets fun.

Did getting your first two right make you eager to make your next pick, but you don’t want to wait until Game 1 of the West Finals on Tuesday? You don’t have to! Depending on her point total, you may feel confident picking Paige Bueckers' total in Monday night’s WNBA game.

Or maybe you have a feeling about Framber Valdez’s strikeout total? Or if Shohei Ohtani hits a home run? Go right ahead. You can start with NBA picks, switch to WNBA or MLB (or anything else), and go back to the NBA (or not).

But with a great NBA game on Tuesday and every other day this week, it’s a great time to roll with NBA picks.
